Dr. Jennifer Marine

Jennifer Marine is an art historian whose research focuses on the intersecting histories of art, science, and technology from the nineteenth century until today. Her scholarship has centered on the ways that people attempted to visualize invisible phenomena through the development or adaptation of technologies like photography and X-rays. Her work has been supported by the Paul Mellon Centre for British Art Studies, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, the Bibliotheca Hertziana – Max Planck Institute for Art History, and the Menil Drawing Institute, among others. She received her Ph.D. in the History of Art and Architecture from the University of Virginia.

Her work in Digital Humanities brings together her research and passion for collaboration. Previous DH projects have used coding to think about how humanists can engage meaningfully with technology. Outside of her research, she has assisted in curating exhibitions at the Fralin Museum of Art, the Kluge-Ruhe Aboriginal Art Collection, and the Menil Drawing Institute.
